Indian Business Tycoon from Kerala Grabs a Part of the World's Tallest Structure

BENGALURU: George V Nereaparambil, a businessman who was formerly a mechanic now owns 22 apartments in the world’s tallest man-made marvel– the Burj Khalifa. Hailing from the Indian state of Kerala, he is now one of the largest private property owners within the Burj Khalifa. The businessman desired to acquire the property when one of his relatives made a joke about his inefficiency to enter the massive building. “See this Burj Khalifa, you cannot enter it” were the words that made George aim incredibly higher than just being a mechanic.

Starting from the young age of 11, Nereaparambil assisted his father in earning money by trading cash crops. Later, he moved to Sharjah in 1976 and realized that setting up an air conditioning business amidst the desert’s hot climate is an idea he won’t regret. As for George, like an Arabian tale of rags-to-riches, those were indeed the stepping stones that led him towards the success of his present-day empire, the GEO Group of Companies.

Reports suggest that, back in 2010, Nereaparambil came across an advertisement posted in a newspaper mentioning about an apartment available for rent in the tower. He bought the apartment on the same day, and as a dream come true, he started living in it from the next day.

Moving six years ahead of his dream day, he has now managed to grab 22 of the total 900 apartments at the most expensive and luxurious area in the Gulf. Currently, five of them are rented and the business tycoon is eagerly expecting the right tenant to occupy the rest.

“Am not stopping at 22 and will continue to buy more if I get a “good deal”. I am a dreamer and I never stop dreaming,” says George, in an exclusive interview with the Khaleej Times.
