India-Pakistan Frontier to Be Completely Sealed by the End of 2018

BENGALURU: In an attempt to effectively avoid cross-border attacks, the Indian Government will seal the border that India shares with Pakistan. The entire project is expected to be completed by the month of December, 2018. Additionally, to offer enhanced support, the Government will deploy advanced technological solutions.

Rajnath Singh, Home Minister of India examined the current security situation on the frontier with the ministers and the respective security officials of four states that comes in the red alert zone. After a brief analysis and discussion, the Home Minister announced that the country will seal the border completely; also implementing a top-grade monitoring mechanism at the state and central government levels. Providing further information, he stated, "This project will be periodically monitored by Home Secretary at the central level, BSF from the security forces perspective and Chief Secretaries at the state level.”

Expressing deep concerns on the upcoming project, the Home Minister also suggested about incorporating a security network across the border. Leading stakeholders across the country, including the states in the red alert zone accepted the innovative proposal made by the minister. As it is a new concept, the minister said that further guidelines will be formulated only after considering the suggestions from all the stakeholders.

The discussions were held amidst the ongoing tensions between the two countries, and some Senior BSF officials were also a part of it. After a successful surgical strike by Indian Army on the terror camps situated across the Line of Control, the ministers decided to reconsider the security arrangements.
