Arvind Kumar on Cloud Trends to Watch out for In 2021

For past more than 1 decade, Cloud technology is one of most favourite topic of everyone, either in terms of digital transformation or in term of On Prim to Off Prim IT infrastructure / application service migrations.

Let’s roll back a bit to understand it better. In late 2000 we start hearing a term cloud computing too often with very high notion, but what is cloud computing? Let’s elaborate more on that.

Cloud Computing is the usage of Cloud DC resources such as Server, security, application etc. to manage your business operations without buying any physical IT Infrastructure or application. But question raised is that, what is Cloud DC?

Cloud DCs are nothing but Virtualized Datacentres on physical powerful compute, Storage and Network resources (just like your server room resources), but with no information of exact DC location to end users / consumers. Now question raised is that, what is virtualized DCs?

“It would be a great to watch, how different cloud providers come together to make ease of cloud security, management and cross platform migration from one cloud to other without impacting much on financials”

Virtualized DC is made up of various virtual IT resources / components like Server, Storage, Network, Firewall etc. instead of physical and have the capability to build any such IT resource on the fly without any additional physical resource requirement. Now we need to understand, what are virtual IT resources?

“Creation of a virtual IT resources, such as server, storage or network devices with the help of software that simulates hardware functionality to create a functional virtual system is also known as Virtualization” and is essential component of virtual DC.

In past 1 decade we have seen the journey of many organizations from DC virtualization to single tenant Cloud (Public / Private) i.e. IaaS, PaaS, SaaS to multitenant Cloud (Hybrid) to have better IT operational efficiency and cost effectiveness along with ease of maintenance.

Now a day’s budget is also one of the major concerns from all organizations for cloud spends. Everyone want to reduce their annual billing for their respective cloud service usage, but having one or the other issues linked with cloud services, they need to stuck with specific cloud provider.

Being many cloud provider available in market, no one talk about just cloud computing (Public or private Cloud), they talk about cross platform cloud integration, security and management services i.e. monitoring and control for every single service / tenant hosted in private, public or hybrid cloud under single umbrella / console:

• How to take the complexity in the back pane and provide ease of multitenant cloud service management along with AI/ML being integral part of it, to have behavioural and predictive analytics as default tool?

• How to make use of available cloud APIs for better integration and collaboration? Or how to build open and secured APIs to make it happen?

It would be a great to watch, how different cloud providers come together to make ease of cloud security, management and cross platform migration from one cloud to other without impacting much on financials, just like SIM service portability from one service provider to another.
