Amidst the Demonetization Turmoil, FreeCharge Plays its Role in Assisting the People

BENGALURU: Ever since the Modi Government imposed a ban on 500 and 1000 rupee notes, a rapid shift towards the usage of e-wallets were seen across the country. Although Paytm is preferred by most people, FreeCharge has also come up with a new plan to help the people distressed due to the after-effects of demonetization. The company, in partnership with Reliance General Insurance Company Limited, launched an e-wallet protection plan for all its users. Furthermore, the company said that the new plan will be offered free of cost to all FreeCharge users.

According to the company’s wallet insurance plan, the wallet balance for all the FreeCharge customers will effectively be insured up to a limit of 20,000––free of cost. But, the user needs to make transaction at least once in a month.

The new plan introduced by FreeCharge focuses on helping their customers in case of a phone loss or theft––during which––the customers need to file a FIR at the local police station within 24 hours. Similarly, a report should also be sent to FreeCharge immediately by calling the customer care or through e-mail.

"Over the course of operations, we have realized that consumer perception of wallet safety is critical to drive both adoption and retention of our customers and hence we are offering this plan to our consumers free of cost," says Govind Rajan, CEO, FreeCharge.
