7 Lakh Visitors Gain Climate Insights at Adani Green Energy Gallery in London
Science Museum in London has seen record visitation of 7 lakh in the initial year of its trailblazing display, The Energy Revolution: The Adani Green Energy Gallery. Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL)-sponsored and curated by the museum, the gallery ventures into leading-edge renewable energy solutions and their significance in the battle against climate change.
Officially opened on March 26, 2024, by Gautam Adani, the Chairman of Adani Green Energy, the gallery has a free admission for the public. It showcases how the world can shift to green energy alternatives to decarbonize and reduce the effects of climate change. Over the past year, the gallery has hosted over 40 curator-led tours for prominent organizations, including the Climate Change Committee, the Met Office, the World Energy Council, and various UK government departments. These tours have provided critical insights into the ongoing energy transition and decarbonization strategies.
Among the gallery's highlights is the award-winning low-carbon brick bench display that received the honour of 2024 Brick Awards in the category of innovation. The display features the first ever 100% hydrogen-fired brick, a glimpse of the construction industry's greener alternative. Bricks, which are produced with hydrogen in place of natural gas, showed an 81-84% drop in carbon emissions, stressing the viability of low-carbon production.
The gallery recently launched an enhanced Decarbonisation Tracker display, which charts Britain's electricity supply by carbon intensity. The tracker tracks years of grams of CO2 emitted per unit of electricity and has hit a record low in 2024. The live display will keep the UK's emissions path under the spotlight until 2035, delivering key information on the country's journey to net zero.
AGEL, the world's largest renewable energy business with an operating portfolio of more than 13 gigawatts across wind, solar, and hybrid projects, continues to support speeding up the clean energy shift. The sustainable design of the gallery, overseen by prize-winning architects Unknown Works, makes use of salvaged shelves from the museum's previous storage space and recyclable aluminum to limit its carbon impact.
Through its interactive displays and compelling content, The Energy Revolution: The Adani Green Energy Gallery has been able to inform and inspire visitors, highlighting the imperative of sustainable energy solutions in the battle against climate change.
