6 Animals That Are Most Likely To Be Resurrected
Bangalore: De-extinction, i.e. the act of bringing back extinct species of plants or animals, has been proposed by several conservation biologists and environmentalists for over a decade or so. But only the recent advances in molecular biology and genetic sequencing have enabled the scientists to transform this theory into reality that we are all likely to see in our own lifetime.
Scientists are planning to extract, reassemble and inject the genome of the extinct animals into embryonic cells and then transferring these cells into a suitable surrogate that can give birth, thereby bring back the extinct species to life. Though the initial experiments conducted ten years ago was not an outright success, as the animal which was resurrected managed to survive for only a few minutes, scientists of today are optimistic about bringing back 24 extinct species of animals.
Take a look at some of the animals that scientists are planning to bring back from extinction, as reported Jennifer Welsh of Business Insider.
