5 Things to Expect From Modi's AMRUT and Other Flagship Projects


BANGALORE: In an attempt to transform the urban infrastructure fraught with the continuous increase in population, PM Modi will officially launch the Smart City and AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation) and Housing-For-All by 2022 in the urban areas. The launch will be held at Vigyan Bhawan in the presence of senior officials from state governments and Union Territories on June 25, 2015.

Modi will publicize the implementation guidelines for the three big-ticket urban renewal projects - Smart City and or Urban Transformation. Here are the 5 challenges that the Modi government has to face.

1. Which City as Smart City?

While 48, 000 crore has been assigned for Smart City project, 50, 000 crore will be allocated to AMRUT. It will be a tough job for the Modi government to consider which all cities can be selected as SMART cities and which one among them would gain the maximum profit. Parameters that will be considered can supposedly be lifestyle, population and economy.
