40 Indians Trapped In Iraq, PM Concerned
BANGALORE: Sever chaos in Iraq creating tension among Indian government. 40 Indians went missing from Mosul while getting transferred to a safer place. They are difficult to track. It has been suspected that ISIS (The Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham) is responsible. Ministry of external affairs has told that former ambassador, Suresh Reddy will be sent to Bagdad to assess the rescue effort and strengthen the Indian mission in Iraq. The spokes person of the government told that External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj herself is reviewing and monitoring the situation on a regular basis. Indian Embassy in Baghdad is sending updated information to the government on an hourly basis.
However, former MP and Congress spokesperson P C Chacko wrote a letter to the prime minister telling that 46 nurses and paramedics from Kerala are trapped in a hospital at Iraq from past four weeks. They called the congress leaders to explain their condition. He also told that Kerala CM too got such calls and has already written a letter to Swaraj. He urged the government to take some effective steps for the secured return of the Indians trapped in Iraq.
People from Mosul, Kirkuk and Tikrit, have reported that there is no law and order and people fear for their life in violence affected areas. They are living without food and water. Only arms welding rebels can be seen all over the streets.
Government’s spokes person told that they are very much worried about the Indian standard in Iraq as well as for the 46 nurses and the workers. They are requesting all the Indians to stay calm and safe until they don’t get any help for the secure return. Indian air force has told that C-130 super Hercules is ready to take off any time to rescue the nurses at Iraq. Indian government has set up a 24-hour helpline to help Indian citizens.
