16th Finance Commission of India team Visit Ziro Valley: Arunachal
On April 9, a ten-member team from the 16th Finance Commission of India, led by Smti Annie George Mathew, visited the picturesque Ziro Valley. The District Administration of Lower Subansiri District warmly welcomed the team at the Circuit House in Hapoli, where they engaged in a fruitful discussion with members of the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI) and Heads of Departments (HODs).
During their visit, the Commission members assessed the challenges encountered in implementing various flagship programs and reviewed the progress made thus far. The team toured several significant locations, including the Integrated Aqua Park at Tarin, the revered Shivalinga at Kardo, and the scenic Seeh Lake at Birii. They also had the opportunity to visit a traditional Apatani household belonging to Shri Tilling Duri in Hong Village, where they interacted with local residents to gain insights into their lives and challenges.
Additionally, the team explored the Naara Aaba Winery in Hong, renowned for producing India’s first organic kiwi wine. They engaged with the winery's founder, Smti Tage Rita, who is recognized as a leading entrepreneur in the region.
To conclude their visit, the District Administration organized a vibrant cultural program in the evening, showcasing the rich traditions and culture of the Apatani Tribe. This event highlighted the community's heritage and provided the visiting team with a deeper appreciation of the local culture. Overall, the visit was a significant step in fostering collaboration and understanding between the Finance Commission and the local community.
