150 Million Indians Indulge In Mobile Flirts

Bangalore: Have you ever sent a flirtatious SMS? 150 million Indians have sent flirtatious texts and 15 percent of the respondents admitted to doing so, revealed a survey by NDTV. The top three states for mobile flirts were noted to be Karnataka (43 percent), followed by Chhattisgarh (33 percent), and Punjab (26 percent).

While, youngsters accounted for 21 percent of the mobile flirts, 8 percent elders indulged in the same. Of these mobile flirts, 18 percent were from men and 12 percent from women.

Further, the survey revealed that in total, 64 percent of the respondents prefer their cellphones to Television. Jharkhand led that category with 88 percent and was followed by Bihar (85 percent) and then Uttar Pradesh (83 percent).

Andhra Pradesh and Odisha were more conventional with 55 percent of those polled in each state saying they prefer TV to cellphones. Only 36 percent respondents in India prefer TV.

The poll was carried out in 125 constituencies spread over 18 states (these account for over 20 percent of the 543 Lok Sabha seats). Each Lok Sabha constituency was chosen using a statistical formula based on voting patterns of 2009 Lok Sabha Elections. In each Lok Sabha constituency, two to three assembly segments were chosen at random where approximately 100 interviews were conducted in homes.
