15 Indian-Origin Men, Women In Queen's New Year's Honours List



Among some of the other high achieving Asians, Pakistani- origin professor Ash Amin of the University of Cambridge receives a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for services to social science.

Others honoured with OBEs include Mahmood Ahmed, chair of the Birmingham City Labour Party, for voluntary political service; Hamid Ghafoor Mughal, director of global manufacturing at Rolls-Royce plc, for services to technology, innovation and manufacturing; Rafaat Mughal, founder and director of JAN Trust, for services to disadvantaged women and the community in Haringey; Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh for services to business and to the Asian community in Scotland; and Gulam Siddiquie, general secretary of the Lanarkshire Muslim Welfare Society, for services to cultural integration and to the community in Lanarkshire.

MBEs have also been awarded to Faiza Khan for services to young people; Fathir Khan for services to the Asian community in Sheffield, South Yorkshire; Yasmin Shabir Khan for services to equality and diversity; and Zaidah Parveen Ahmed for services to the community in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
