10 World Leaders Implicated in the Panama Papers



BENGALURU: A massive 2.6-terabyte leak amounting to over 11 million tax documents of Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca to the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists saw a number of high-profile heads of state being implicated. From arguably the most powerful man on earth, Russian President Vladimir Putin to one of the most controversial political leader at the moment, Syria’s controversial Bashar al-Assad, here is a list of ten world leaders implicated in the Panama Papers, reports HT.

Vladimir Putin

According to the reports, Vladimir Putin's inner circle allegedly controls about $2 billion worth of offshore assets. Childhood friends of the Russian President Arkady and Boris Rotenberg owned at least seven companies in the British Virgin Islands including a pipeline company and helped build an Italian villa for Arkady’s son. One of Putin's closest associates, Sergey Roldugin owned three offshore companies which allegedly received advantageous loans.
