 Now that the hex has lost its effect, women are back to take what is rightfully theirs.  The role of subjugation ceases to exist with the dawn of a new light, Equality! As the stereotypical order of gender inequality crumbles to dust, women are seen reimagining the code of equality for the betterment of society, reports Huffington Posts

Here are 10 valiant women who fought for women’s rights and equality.

Mavis Mendonca Smith

The rapes amongst girl children are gravely picking up .In retaliation to this, Mavis Mendonca Smith who has resided in Bangalore all her life started the MAVIS“Win Bangalore Back (on Facebook) with several of her friends.

The group intends to bring forward the issues and ensure swift measures to make the city a safe place for women. Within a few days, over 20,000 people joined the group; Smith along with the other co-founders went on to organize the’ Red Bridge’ campaign, around 2000 people flocked the  scene in favor of women’s rights against violence.  

 The group has now attained strong ties with the Bengaluru’s police commissioner’s office; they hold a platform to record the reports of victimized women.
