7. John Hus:

John Hus was a Czech priest, philosopher, and reformer who was burned at the stake of unorthodoxy against the doctrines of the Catholic Church, including other theological topics. Hus was a key predecessor to the Protestant movement of the sixteenth century, and his teachings had a strong influence on the states of Europe. Hus is considered as the first Church reformer, since he lived before Luther, Calvin, and Zwingli.

8. Giordano Bruno:

Giordano Bruno was an Italian Dominican philosopher and astrologer whose cosmological theories went beyond the Copernican model. He proposed that the Sun was basically a star, and that the universe contained unlimited number of inhabited worlds populated by other intelligent beings. For that, the Roman Inquisition initially accused him for his anti-dogmatic ideals. Ultimately, he was found guilty of heresy and was burned to death after a seven-year trial in which he still refused to completely give up his heresies.
