4. Nigeria: It is not surprising to know that Nigeria is the country with the fourth highest enslaved population as human rights in this country remains in a very destitute state. Lack of social equality, amenities, and development further worsen the situation. As such, the Nigerian women and girls are trafficked from within the country and send them to big cities for sexual exploitation and domestic servitude.

Most of the victims of modern slavery like sexual exploitation were from asylum seeker backgrounds. According to GSI, as many as 701,000 people are enslaved. Of which, around 40,000 girls and women have been trafficked to nearby West African regions.

3. Pakistan: A South Asian country, Pakistan is the sixth most populous country with a population exceeding 180 million people. Out of the total population, around 2.1 million Pakistanis are enslaved, especially children and laborers. According to the Asian Development Bank estimates, 1.8 million are in bonded labor. Many Pakistanis migrate to Gulf, Iran, Turkey, South Africa and elsewhere in search of work and these are the same places they fall prey to deceitful labor agents who withhold the passports and don’t pay wages.
