BENGALURU: Fighting through this patriarchal world, women have somehow claimed significance in Indian politics by taking up the constitutional power in their hands to a very large extent. Time and again they have proved that there is nothing that a woman can’t do, be it business or politics.
Today, the percentage of parliamentary seats held by women worldwide has doubled to 22.1 percent, which was 11.3 percent in 1995. Women exist in this world in many avatars and here is a list of women leading the country in powerful avatars.
Sushma Swaraj: Sushma Swaraj is a very experienced politician and currently the Minister of External Affairs of India. She gained the position on 26th May 2014, after the arrival of Modi Govt. She is the second person after Indira Gandhi to become India’s external affairs minister. Other than this she has been selected seven times as the Member of Parliament and three times as the member of legislative assembly.
She has a bachelor’s degree in Sanskrit and political science from Ambala Cantonment and then studied law at Punjab University. Before entering politics she practiced as an advocate in Supreme Court in 1973.
