Bangalore: Which is the world’s richest sporting events? Forbes recently listed out the 10 highest-paying sporting events in the world. But it was seen that four of the top ten spots were occupied by soccer tournaments. The list focused on the prize money paid out to the winner of either a single event or a tournament. The 10 sporting events that made it to the list are:

UEFA Champions League:

UEFA Champions League is a soccer tournament and the richest sporting event at $77 million. Only the most prestigious club soccer tournament on the planet pays like it. It is an annual continental club football competition organized by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) since 1955 for the top football clubs in Europe. It is also known to be one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world and the most prestigious club competition in European football.

The English side, Chelsea, defeated Bayern Munich for the title this year, behind the head and foot of striker, Didier Drogba. Teams are paid for qualifying for the Champions League, games they win during the tournament and for the size of their market. The latter is one of the reasona why Chelsea made $33 million more than last year’s winner, Barcelona.
