The global powers are rated taking into account the number and data of the each country’s all three forces put together, that is on land, sea and the air. U.S.             
U.S. with the highest number military personnel in the world at 145,212,012 is on the first spot. U.S. also tops the charts for the 18,234 number of aircrafts, 2,384 number of navel units which is the highest compared to any other country. The U.S. military as a unit has the state of the art equipments in large supply and also poses an extensive placement all over the world, making them major players in the world. And it projects their strength and caliber on the military front.

Russia
Russia with 69,117,271 number of military manpower is at the second place. The total number of aircrafts forming the Russian’s air power is 2,749. The Navel unit has 233 navy ships. The annual spending of Russian over its defense forces is estimated to $52.7 billion, spent in 2011. Yet the function on Russian military system is dubious and is questioned by the analysts’. Even the future plans of advancement and transformation to an adequate size is doubtful due to the lack of well qualified military professionals and trouble within the forces due to corruption.
