10 Indian States with Highest Sex Ratio

Pondicherry
Rank: 2
Pondicherry is one of the two states or territories in India where the number of women are more than the number of men. It also shows the highest increase in the number of women in the last decade with +41 in 2011. As recorded by census 2011 the number of women per 1000 men is 1,031, it was 990 women per 1000 in 2001. The report said, “Though the sex ratio of India has gone through commendable signs of improvement in the past 10 years, there are still some states where the sex ratio is still low and is a cause of concern for the NGO organizations,” as per census2011.Co.

Kerala
Rank: 1
Kerala, Gods own country, also seems like one of the states for women in the country. As per the 2011 census Kerala shows a ratio of 1,084 women per 1000 men in 2011. The number was significantly high even in 2001 with 1,058 women per 1000 men. An increase of +26 is seen in the sex ratio over the past ten years.

The 2011 census shows Haryana with a decreasing trend in women population, which has become a cause of concern. The report said, “The state of Haryana has the lowest rate of sex ratio in India and the figure shows a number of 877 of females to that of 1000 of males,” as per census2011.

The women population in a country also stands for the perception a country holds for women among other reasons. There have been questions related to women safety and female feticide in the country, the number allows the nation to consider steps to prevent and protect women at large to create an equal society, not just by numbers but also by standards.
