Sony hires sleuths to track Playstation hackers



Bangalore: Sony has hired Cyber- security detectives in order to clean its networks and catch the culprits behind the massive Playstation hacking after undergoing a grave damage. This Playstation hack has caused damage to atleast 100 Million video game players, by exposing their personal data information. The cyber security detectives are appointed from Guidance Software and consultants from Robert Half International subsidiary Protiviti. These steps give some hope of cleaning up their networks and restore back the peace. The information about the procedure of the investigation is not yet known. Richard Blumenthal, the Connecticut Senator, asked Sony to clarify the number of compromised credit card accounts and requested a detailed timeline outlining what the company knew about, what was stolen and when was it known. The financial records of over 23,400 people residing outside U.S. were stolen by the hackers. Bank details of over 10,700 customers were stolen from countries like Austria, Germany, Netherlands and Spain. Credit card details and other personal information had been taken from an "outdated database". The company said that, direct debit information for about 10,700 customers in Austria, Spain, Netherlands and Germany were stolen. Card issuers like MasterCard and Visa also have appointed a detective firm to investigate.
