Jalandhar: Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh joined the growing list of former and current players, demanding Bharat Ratna for batting icon Sachin Tendulkar, saying the veteran cricketer deserves the nation's highest civilian honour for his accomplished career spanning over two decades.
"Sachin Tendulkar is a great player. The way he has taken Indian cricket to new heights in the past 21 years of his career, there can't be enough words to describe his contribution. Everyone prays for him when he steps on the field and certainly it is the right time to honour him with this award," Harbhajan told.
Harbhajan also lavished praise on outgoing coach Gary Kirsten, saying the South African turned a team of mere players into champions.
