ZEEL and Jio TV extend their two-year content collaboration
Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (ZEEL) has extended its content agreement with Jio TV, a live TV aggregation app owned by Jio Platforms, for two more years. The Jio TV app will continue to offer ZEEL's selection of more than 60 SD and HD channels as part of the agreement. The channels of news organisation Zee Media are also distributed by ZEEL.
A top media industry executive revealed that the media company's bundling agreement with JioFiber for ZEE5 will be up for renewal later this year. According to ZEEL's FY22 annual report, domestic digital subscription sales climbed at a solid rate as a result of ZEE5's expanded audience, which somewhat mitigated the pressure on TV subscription income.
Jio TV combines approximately 900 stations from various genres, including news, sports, and entertainment, in 15 languages. The platform features material from the majority of India's main publishers, with the exception of Disney Star channels.
JioTV+ is an OTT aggregation platform that gathers content from services including Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, SonyLIV, ZEE5, and Sun NXT. JioFiber is Reliance Jio's high-speed wired broadband service. In addition, JioFiber provides access to other expensive OTT services like Netflix.
