YouTube Launches Rs 89 Premium Lite Plan in India
- YouTube launches ‘Premium Lite’ in India for ad-free video viewing at Rs 89/month.
- Plan excludes ad-free music, Shorts, and browsing/search content.
- Aimed at users who want fewer ads but don’t need full Premium features.
YouTube has introduced its Premium Lite subscription in India at Rs 89 per month, offering users an affordable way to enjoy ad-free viewing on most videos. The rollout is currently underway and will be available nationwide in the coming weeks.
This new plan allows users to watch content without ads across devices including smartphones, laptops, and smart TVs. However, ads may still appear on music content, YouTube Shorts, and during search or browsing. It’s designed for users who primarily want an ad-free experience while watching regular videos, but don’t need the full set of features available in YouTube Premium.
Unlike the full Premium subscription, Premium Lite does not include offline downloads, background play, or ad-free music via YouTube Music. Those looking for a complete streaming experience will still need the full Premium plan, which remains priced higher.
YouTube said the move is part of its effort to meet the evolving needs of Indian users by offering flexible and cost-effective options. With India emerging as one of the platform’s biggest markets, this low-cost plan aims to attract price-sensitive viewers who want to skip ads but don’t require all Premium features.

By introducing Premium Lite, YouTube hopes to tap into the growing demand for customized, affordable digital experiences in one of the world’s largest video streaming markets.
