The Indian version of the Emmy-winning format will air from early next year and marks one of SPNI’s biggest entertainment launches across television and digital platforms.
Globally, Wheel of Fortune is among the most successful TV franchises in history. It holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s most popular game show and has been named the most-watched entertainment program on American television. The show has also won multiple Daytime Emmy Awards, making its Indian debut highly anticipated.
The Indian adaptation will be broadcast on Sony Entertainment Television and streamed on Sony LIV. SPNI plans to combine traditional TV reach with digital engagement, including a 'Play Along' feature on Sony LIV that allows viewers to participate in the game in real time. This integrated approach aims to deepen audience interaction and expand the show’s appeal across age groups.
Akshay Kumar’s involvement adds star power to the project. Known for his strong television connect and consistently high-performing satellite premieres, Kumar said he is excited to bring the puzzle-based format to Indian viewers. He highlighted the show’s simplicity, excitement, and broad appeal, calling it a format that families can enjoy together.
