Pocket FM, the popular audio series platform, has announced a remarkable achievement: over 100 billion minutes of global streaming and more than 45 million transactions in 2024, as detailed in its 'Pocket FM Playback 2024' report. This milestone underscores the growing global appeal of immersive storytelling and audio experiences.
The report reveals that Pocket FM has captivated a diverse audience, with 54% of its listeners identifying as Gen Z, 37% as Millennials, and 5% as Gen X. The gender distribution is nearly balanced, with 53% male and 47% female users.
A significant factor in this success has been the integration of AI-enabled audio series, which expanded the platform's content library by an impressive 36 times. Human-narrated series also saw a twofold increase, contributing to a rich variety of listening options.
Financially, Pocket FM has seen extraordinary growth, with seven audio series surpassing $10 million in revenue a staggering 600% increase from 2023. Additionally, 35 series crossed the million-dollar mark, tripling last year’s figures, showcasing the platform's commercial viability.
Romance and Drama emerged as the top genres in both India and the United States, followed closely by Fantasy & Sci-Fi and Horror & Thriller. These genres have resonated with audiences across various cultural and geographic boundaries, resulting in significant engagement hours.
The listening habits of Pocket FM users reveal that over 200,000 listeners spend more than three hours daily on the platform, while over 10,000 listeners logged more than 3,000 hours annually averaging eight hours per day. Notably, morning hours (5–8 AM) and commute times (8–11 AM) accounted for nearly 30% of daily consumption, while leisure hours (8–11 PM) saw a shift towards audio series over traditional television. Late-night listening (11 PM–5 AM) contributed to 22.9% of total consumption.
India has emerged as a key market, with millions of listeners from cities such as Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, and Chennai. The top-performing audio series reflect the Indian audience's passion for engaging narratives, with 'Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh' leading with over 100 million plays, followed by 'Secret Ameerzaada' with 85 million plays.
