Imtiaz Ali's 'Highway' to Hit Theatres Again for Women's Day Celebrations

Imtiaz Ali and Sajid Nadiadwala's award-winning film Highway, featuring Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda, releases in theatres this Women's Day, allowing audiences a chance to revisit its inspiring story of personal transformation on the big screen.
Commenting on the re-release, producer Sajid Nadiadwala spoke about why the 2014 film continues to appeal to audiences. “Highway remains one of our most cherished films and continues to receive immense love even today. It’s a timeless classic that deserves to be revisited, featuring outstanding performances by Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda. I’m delighted that this Women’s Day, audiences will have the chance to experience this beautiful film on the big screen once again”, he said.
Directed by Imtiaz Ali and produced by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, Highway first screened in the Panorama section at the 2014 Berlin International Film Festival and worldwide released on February 21, 2014. Based on an incident from Zee TV's anthology series Rishtey, the film traces the journey of a young woman toward freedom and independence after she gets kidnapped.
As part of PVR INOX's special movie festival for International Women's Day, Highway will be shown along with other woman-oriented films such as Queen and Fashion. The festival, from March 7 to March 13, seeks to celebrate strong women stories in film.
Apart from the Women's Day roster, theaters will screen Bollywood masterpieces like Vikramaditya Motwane's Lootera, Fahadh Faasil's Kumbalangi Nights, Rajkummar Rao's Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana, Dev Benegal's Road, Movie, and Mahesh Babu's Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu this Friday, presenting filmgoers with a cinematic treat of varieties.
