Amrish Puri's fierce eyes, husky voice, and his scary looks make him an ideal villain of Bollywood. He has played various negative as well as supportive roles, but, his villainous act has made him unique in the film industry.

A comic-book inspired character created by Javed Akthar- 'Mogambo' of Mr. India elevated Amrish as one of the top villains in Indian cinema. Though Mr. India had a strong sci-fi story and the mesmerizing performance of Sridevi. It was our Mogambo's strange costume, sadist nature, mannerism, and his loyalists that made Mr.India  a big hit and gave it a cult classic status in  Bollywood. All thanks to Amrish who struck the cords right with the character that impressed the audience to utter the dialogue "Mogambo khush hua" with a burst of creepy laughter, even today.

In contrast to Mogambo, Amrish was equally good at playing a desh-premi caring and protective father in the iconic DDLJ (Dilwale Dulhaniya le Jayenge) who keep the audience at the edge of the seat to know will Raj and Simran ever unite? In addition to these iconic roles, Amrish has also played several notable characters that include Vidhaata's Jagavar, Damini's Barrister Chadda, Karan Arjun's Thakur Durjan Singh and many more.
