Sridevi, the versatile Indian cinema icons who started her acting career in the Tamil cinema at the age of 4, made her debut as a child artiste with “Thunaivan” in 1969. Sridevi earned fame as ‘Little Murugan’ in ‘Thunaivan,’ a Tamil devotional film released in 1971. Thereafter, she acted with Kamala Hasan, Rajinikanth and other top heroes, turning out blockbusters. She acted in many Tamil films then on. She also worked in Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films.  Winning the hearts of million fans, she entered into the bollywood industry and she gave so many blockbuster and commercially hit movies setting the landmark in her career.

2. Meendum Kokila (1981)

Meendum Kokila is a Tamil language film which sets the track record for Sridevi’s career as one of the top actresses in South India. This movie brought Sridevi into the limelight in Tamil film industry and won Tamil Filmfare Award for the Best Actress category.  She played the role of an innocent Brahmin housewife who is stuck in the love triangle.  It was a box-office success.

5. Nagina (1986)

Sridevi played the role of ‘Naagin’ and known for her iconic song ‘Mein Nagin Tu Sapera’ setting the best snake dance moves in Bollywood. Nagina became the biggest blockbuster of the year with Box office India stating that Sridevi remained “undisputed No.1”. It was a commercial success and appreciated for its screenplay, dialogues and direction. She received the Filmfare Special Award for her performances in Nagina.

This film brings the emotion of a mother whose daughter gets raped and how she fought hard to avenge rapist of her daughter. It is an emotional and heart renching story and Sridevi portrayed her character very well. This film was released in four languages and also received positive reviews from film critics.
