Shemaroo Entertainment Introduces OTT Video Streaming Platform 'ShemarooMe' in the U.S.

Indian American audiences are a huge opportunity for the digital entertainment companies. Foreseeing this, Shemaroo Entertainment, an integrated media content house, has entered the US market with its recent introduction of over-the-top (OTT) video streaming service named ‘ShemarooMe’. With a vast content library and currently present in 30 countries, Shemaroo gives the Indo-US audiences a chance to go through the exclusive portfolio of Bollywood, regional language, devotional and children’s content.

Hiren Gada, CEO, Shemaroo, comments, “As a company we've always understood the pulse of our diverse audiences, and our history is a testimony to that. Today, we are excited to extend our content offerings to loyal fans of Indian entertainment in the US with a host of integrated features such as linear channels, live streams and video-on-demand services. With this launch, we look to further build strategic partnerships in the world's leading OTT market”.

Shemaroo’s service will bring around 2500 titles and users will have the freedom to choose from seven distinct content categories such as Bollywood Plus, Bollywood Classic, Gujarati, Punjabi, Marathi, Kids and Bhakti (devotional).  The category plans are priced at $4.99 per month/$49.99 each year, and the all-access plan is priced at $9.99 per month/$99.99 per year. The OTT is available on Google Play, the iOS App store or online. Shemaroo is also planning to make the app available on Amazon Fire TV Stick, Apple TV and Roku.

Shemaroo was founded in 1962 as a book circulating library and currently it is an entertainment company engaged in the business of motion picture, video and television program distribution activities. Headquartered at Mumbai, it employs over 750 people across 30 countries and Shemaroo’s fifty YouTube Channels receive 25 million views per day and 750 million views per month. Earlier this year, considering India’s online video market valued at $700 million, Shemaroo introduced the streaming service in India. In addition, the Indian American viewership has equally urged for culturally niche and cross generational video content abroad, thus paving the way for Shemaroo to bring the services to the Indo Americans.
