Regional Aspirants Performing Better in Femina Miss India

New Delhi: Former model and current National director of the Femina Miss India contest Marc Robinson says participants from smaller towns are better off than their city counterparts.

"Do not be surprised if a contestant from Indore or Chandigarh or Allahabad wins the pageant this year. Last year Prachi Mishra from Allahabad was crowned the Femina Miss India Earth; Shilpa Singh the winner of Miss India-Universe title is from Samastipur in Bihar," Robinson, who is in the capital to judge the auditions, told PTI.

Femina Miss India has the right to send Indian representatives at Miss World, Miss Earth & Miss International beauty pageants.

In a bid to bolster performance in global beauty contests and an inevitable entry to Bollywood, this year, for the very first time, the contest is travelling to many cities to handpick beauties across India.

"This year, to handpick the girls, we are travelling to many cites across the country to make sure that there are array of participants. Also our research found that parents are reluctant to send their daughters to Mumbai for the auditions as the distance itself is discouraging," Robinson said.

The fashion choreographer also said, "Beauties in Goa are sexy, Chandigarh has beautiful and gracious girls, in Northeast they are delicate and down south we have darker beauties.
