Former Miss Universe Says She's Blessed

New York : Former Miss Universe Amelia Vega says she is "blessed by God" for having made her dream to record her first album and start her own home a reality, after her December wedding to NBA star and fellow Dominican Al Horford. To the happiness arising from those two circumstances can be added her next appearance in Miami, where she will open for her uncle, well-known singer-songwriter Juan Luis Guerra, at a March 17 concert. "I'm happy. I think the word is blessed, I have to give thanks to God for giving me the opportunity for many of my dreams, despite the fact that some took a while to arrive, to be coming together," Vega said in an interview with EFE. She said that on the work front she is once again devoting herself fully to promoting her album "Agua dulce", from which the number "Tocame la tambora" - which she performs with the help of iconic Dominican singer Johnny Ventura - can currently be heard on the radio. She is also promoting a second version of the tune on which only Vega - who before becoming a beauty queen performed in musicals - sings. "I'm reintegrating myself" after her Christmas eve wedding "into promoting the album and the tour in the cities where concerts are opening", the singer said. Vega said that she has a heavy work agenda that she is combining with her responsibilities as a housewife, but she added that she has the support of Horford, who plays for the NBA's Atlanta Hawks.
