BENGALURU: Today, directors and producers are not willing to risk shooting a film with a fresh story; instead they are relying on the already successful or best-selling novels to base their movie on.  There are so many novels that have been adapted into films. The success rate of these movies based on novel has given directors and producers a new ingredient to produce movie without much risk.

Here is the list of popular novels turned into movie that has proved to be a massive blockbuster hit.

Mystic River

An American mystery drama film directed by Clint Eastwood is based on the novel known as Mystic River written by Dennis Lehane. The film was much appreciated for the rattling story and brilliant acting by Sean Penn, who went on to receive Oscar award for his role  of melancholic father to his assassinated daughter played by Emmy Rossum. The story is based on three friends, who were forever marked when one of them gets abducted by a child molester. Their adult life gets disturbed because of the tragedy and they get reunited by circumstance to avenge.
