Cult Classics which were Hugely Successful Comics & No it is Not Marvel or DC!!

BENGALURU: None of us are new to movies that were adapted from novels and comics. Movies like ‘The Lord of the Rings’, ‘To Kill a Mocking Bird’ and ‘The Godfather’, which were adaptations of novels of the same names, apart from being cult classics, were also critically appreciated and were box office hits. In more recent times, with the younger, violence loving and more comic oriented audience mind, superhero movies like ‘Batman Begins’ and ‘The Avengers’ were great hits, and were commercially very successful, raking hundreds of millions in profit. Adaptations are becoming more and more of a success these days with the screenplay being given the highest of importance. In this regard, there are a few films which most people, and a handful of movie buffs included, are not aware- were adopted from Graphic novels. Here we look at those films, some of which took our breath away and others that grew up with us which were actually inspired from graphic novels.

The Mask

The character, made immortal by Jim Carrey, was a favorite to kids growing up, especially to those belonging to the 90’s generation. The plot of the movie is about a magical mask which makes the wearer invincible, giving him super powers.  The movie that inspired an animated series and had a sequel made, was itself adapted from a dark and violent comic series of the same name.
