Craig Becomes Best Paid Bond Actor

Los Angeles: Daniel Craig is said to have received 31 million pounds for two new James Bond movies and it makes him the highest-paid British actor, as well as the best paid 007 superspy.

The massive figure is almost five times the amount he had earned for his first two outings as the superspy, reports thesun.co.uk.

Craig, 44, who was recently seen in Bond film "Skyfall", is now signed up for a follow-up film to be released by 2014, with another one in 2016.

Earlier, Craig scooped 1.9 million pounds for "Casino Royale" in 2006 and then 4.4 million for "Quantum of Solace" in 2008.

His latest signing is said to have placed him in the Hollywood A-list of leading men, alongside Tom Cruise and Leonardo DiCaprio, who have made 47 million pounds and 23.3 million respectively over the past year.

Craig's cheque is much above previous Bond Pierce Brosnan, who was paid 10.4 million pounds for "Die Another Day" in 2002.

It also puts Craig ahead of other British actors such as Sacha Baron Cohen, who earned 18.9 million pounds for his writing and producing, and "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson, who grossed 16.3 million pounds.
