Akbar(Prithiviraj Kapoor) and Jodha Bai( Durga Khote ) are  blessed with a heir, Prince Salim(Dilip Kumar).This heir is brought to Akbar by a maid, whom he grants any of her wishes when she asks. Salim grows to become a soldier with discipline and courage. He falls in love with Anarkali (Madhubala) who is a court dancer.

The movie has all the aspects which depict love, graceful and enduring Madhubala who plays Anarkali and maestro Dilip Kumar who stands rigid for his love with the fire in his eyes. “Jahe naseeb. Kaanton ko murjhane ka khauf nahin.
