Bangalore: The path to stardom favors for several celebrities. But for certain of them, the fame and wealth springs from criminal cases rather than their success in films. Some of those celebrities slapped with criminal charges include A-listers like Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan and budding actor Shiney Ahuja whose career in the famed industry ended before it even saw the light.

Have a look at the top ten Bollywood celebrities and the criminal charges against them, compiled by IBT Times.

#10 Sanjay Dutt

Sanjay Dutt has been the topic of discussion ever since he was sentenced to five years of imprisonment for illegal possession of a 9mm pistol and an AK-56 assault rifle during the 1993 Mumbai blasts. The actor had already spent 18 months in jail and was booked under TADA (Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act).

Even though he was acquitted of TADA-related offences, he was booked for illegal possession of arms. The actor was alleged to have been in possession of arms and grenades for Abu Salem, close associate of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, in 1993. The Supreme Court’s decision has sent Bollywood into a tizzy.
