Movies are not just an entertainment aspect for us, but it has a great impact on our day to day life. Such as the movie’s dialogues, songs, costumes, and more are much-discussed topics among every individual be it a common man or a millionaire, all are movie addicts at some point in time at least. In one of his interview, India’s richest business tycoon Mukesh Ambani proclaimed is interest in Bollywood movies and would watch a minimum of two to three movies in a week, his movie craze has also urged his to own a personalized theatre at his residence. Despite having a die-hard movie fan, certain Bollywood flicks fail to create the magic as expected by its creators – director and producers. Here we list out five such Bollywood flicks that tanked at the box office.

Chhapaak

Chhapaak is a sensitive movie that narrates the story of a 19 years old girl who turns to be a victim of a horrific acid attack. Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak is based on a real-life story of an acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal who later went on to become an example of women on strength and inspiration. Deepika Padukone has portrayed the lead role as Malti who was attacked in broad daylight on the streets of Delhi by a family friend. Despite Chhapaak having a good script, it couldn’t make it big at the box office. Firstly, Chhapaak is a non-commercial movie that doesn’t possess the content that rules the box office as the audience tagged it as depressing. Secondly, the real-life story couldn’t clash with the frictional Tanhaji and didn’t shine at the theatres. The movie production spent 45 crore and the movie made 55.44 crore at the box office.

Malang

Aditya Roy Kapur starrer Malang has a lot of twists and turns that is really a high dosage for the audience to take up in just one go. The movie begins with the hero going on a killing spree and then comes the flashback that narrates the love story of Aditya and Disha Patani, back in the present day he continues killing cops. The constant switching of past and present has made it hard for the audience to follow the storyline. In this Mohit Suri’s directorial, Anil Kapoor plays a happy cop, Anjaney Agashe who tries to wrap up the case. The movie fetched 84.50 crore at the box office.

Panga

Panga brings the story of a mother who strives to balance her motherly responsibility and simultaneously chase her dreams. The movie has been directed by Ashwini Iyer Tiwari, the story revolves around a mother who juggles between her house responsibility and her job at railways. Over a period of being tried with her regular routines, she realizes her lost passion for sports and at the age of 32 takes a bold decision to give a comeback to sports and represent the nation but, is it an easy task? The emotional and humorously charged movie did not fare well at the box office. With 29 crore budget Panga gathered 41.71 crore at the box office.

Thappad

Anubhav Sinha has directed Thappad starring Taapsee Pannu, its narrates the story of a married women who takes a stand for her self-respect and files for a divorce after being slapped by her husband publically at a party. Taapsee’s role as a submissive wife, who suddenly undergoes an ocean of change within her, in one scene, where she bids goodbye to a crucial character, Taapsee delivers a speech that is intense to its very core. Her portrayal is restrained but at the same time, in every scene she exposes a gamut of emotions pain, disgust, regret and rage without saying too much.The movie budget is set for 24 crore and the box office collection has made up 44.54 crore.
