BlackBerry Plans To Go Private: Sources

Bangalore: BlackBerry, formerly known as Research in Motion, lately has been a subject to a lot of speculations as sales of its Smartphones repeatedly faltered. But chief executive Thorsten Heins believes that he is confident of changing things around and reviving its lost fortunes. However, several sources have revealed that the Smartphone developers are considering going private, as the move would give them the much necessary room to fix things up.

Amid of all these speculations, BlackBerry, yet, has not confirmed any reports on a probable sale. Also with the company still posting low numbers across stocks and in users, private equity firms and other buyers may not want to step up.

This year, BlackBerry’s shares have fallen more than 19 percent. And when it comes to market value, it’s a pure disaster. BlackBerry’s value has fallen to mere $4.8 billion from $84 billon at its peak in 2008.
