Bangalore: Technology is the big fish within the enterprise world. The mass investments and the revenue generation from this golden platform have led CIOs in prioritizing various factors in technology.

According to technology research firm Gartner, enterprises realize on average only 43 percent of technology's potential and that number has to grow for IT to remain relevant in an increasingly digital world. This brings us to Gartner’s survey in scaling out top 10 enterprise tech priorities for CIOs in 2013.

The worldwide survey was conducted in the fourth quarter in 2012 and included 2,053 CIOs, representing more than $230 billion in CIO IT budgets and covering 36 industries in 41 countries.

Over the last 18 months, digital technologies — including mobile, analytics, big data, social and cloud — have reached a tipping point with business executives. Analysts said there is no choice but to increase technology's potential in the enterprise, and this means evolving IT's strategies, priorities and plans beyond tending to the usual concerns as CIOs expect their 2013 IT budgets to be essentially flat for fifth straight year.

So with that let’s take a look at top 10 enterprise priorities for CIOs in 2013.

#10 ERP Applications:

Last year the ERP platform was well placed at number 9, but this year it has lost its slot and fallen onto 10th place.

The wide use of mobile devices and apps within enterprise arena has led to an easiness within CIOs, helping them to understand the kind of data needed and the place to work on. And also they are well aware of the fact that with communications and mobility combined, enterprises offer better business cases.

Recently the tech world saw massive insights in ERP platform, like SAP unifying its in-memory database HANA with all its ERP applications, but still CIOs think ERP platform is good to be at number 10.
