Reliance Infra Strikes 185 Crore Deal For Bihar's IT Project

Bangalore: In a plan to save the Bihar Electricity Board from sinking into big loss, Chief Minister Nithish Kumar has taken action to digitalize the customer service partnering with Reliance Infrastructure. Both shook hands for the 185 crore deal which will help 12 lakh customers in the state. The service will be provided within a time frame of one and a half year and will be available across 71 towns.

The project is expected to improve billing, load distribution and reduce the lose percent of revenue for the Government as most operations are currently executed manually. A senior Company executive said, ”the project will help in automating business processes of Bihar's SEBs using IT platforms, which will result in enhanced customer service, reduction in power theft, revenue realization and improved efficiency," The infrastructure giant will also implement automatic meter reading for potential customers and key IT technologies like geographical information system (GIS) and network service provision that will boost up the network. The lose rate can be reduced again by using real time monitoring and energy auditing systems that will result in reduced subsidy rates and inturn help the customers with a low tariff rate.

System integration (SI) for utilities including management information system, document management system, asset management, IT Infrastructure, network and IT Security will also be deployed by Reliance. Faster execution and more accountability to stakeholders will be the final outcome.
