More Indian SMBs Need to Adopt Hybrid Cloud

Bangalore: Cloud computing is the hottest-trend in tech industry. With big game players like Amazon, Google, IBM, Verizon and VMware sitting contented at the top, smaller and eager startups are also enthusiastic to get a bite out of the big cake. This situation has clearly led to a race in claiming the coveted throne in cloud platform.

Though the hype it carries, cloud has failed to make a mark in terms of businesses switching to private or public clouds. Although larger companies are far ahead in cloud platform, small and medium sized enterprises are still back pedaling when it comes to its implementation. And now here is the new, advanced hybrid cloud, which is a composition of at least one private cloud and one public cloud, where enterprises can benefit from both.

A hybrid cloud is offered in one of two ways: a vendor has a private cloud and forms a partnership with a public cloud provider and vice versa.

But for India, the scenario is totally different. In fact Indian enterprises are massively out played in contemplating cloud computing when compared to other Asia – Pacific enterprises, which already have over 50 percent actively indulged in cloud computing.

At the Red Hat Open Forum 2012, Bryan Che, senior director and general manager, Red Hat cloud business unit said, Indian enterprises need to think of hybrid cloud. First what enterprises require is the much needed architecture, if they are going for either of the cloud- that is private or public.

“I don’t think Indian enterprises need to think of hybrid cloud, but if you are having the architecture, then take the advantage by going for either a public or private cloud,” Che said.

Che also said that enterprises need to have the assorted technology that can cover all the aspects, for successfully implementing cloud platform.

This clearly sheds some light on Indian cloud stage, where smbs are still anxious on the implementation of the technology.
