Ispirt Welcomes the Formation Of the NASSCOM Product Council

Bangalore: The Indian Software Product Industry Round Table (iSPIRT) welcomes the newly formed NASSCOM Product Council. It hopes that the formation of this Product Council will provide the impetus for resolving the long pending policy issues that are deterring the growth of the Indian software product industry.

As Bharat Goenka, member of the iSPIRT Founders Circle says, “What the Indian software product community requires today is an effective policy framework from the government. India already has the talent and initiative to develop globally competitive products, and this has already been showcased by many companies.” iSPIRT Blue Papers identify key areas for change

Since inception, iSPIRT as a think-tank has been working towards inspiring an innovation-driven product industry in the country. One of its goals is to get explicit government support for the software product industry. Towards this end, iSPIRT has published four policy Blue Papers. They present recommendations for policy change that will not only help the Indian software product sector establish itself in national and global markets, but will also help the government improve revenues. Some recommendations that the iSPIRT Blue Papers make include implementing a level playing field for software product developers, increasing the availability of financial incentives and development capital, and promoting the export of Indian software products in bi-lateral trade in the coming months, iSPIRT will be converting the Blue Papers into formal Policy Briefs.

NASSCOM Product Council and iSPIRT can together help shape the policy environment to support a vibrant software product industry

A key focus of the iSPIRT mission is to ‘engage with government policy makers and other policy bodies to explain, educate and inform audiences why a vibrant software product industry is vital to India’s future’. The members of the NASSCOM Product Council come with several years of valuable experience, and iSPIRT looks forward to collaborating with them to convert policy briefs into policy action. By partnering on policy advocacy, iSPIRT and NASSCOM can galvanize the software product industry in the country.
