HCL Not Actively Pursuing Its Hardware Unit Sale

Bangalore: HCL is not actively seeking the sale of its hardware unit which would be created after the company’s main businesses gets separated from its main unit. However the company indicated that it could potentially list the recently-created subsidiaries on the stock exchange, reports Economic Times.

According to the company’s announcement in January, businesses would be split into separate units -hardware, services, system integration and learning & distribution. The hardware unit in particular, which generates about 2,000 crore revenue a year, was speculated to be sold. But the recent slump in PC sales has limited the buyer interest in the unit. "We are not actively seeking a sale. But as a listed company, if someone comes with an expression of interest in any of our businesses we always consider it. It's a consideration of whether it's a right deal at the right price," said chief executive officer Harsh Chitale.
