BYOD Users To Touch 350 Million By 2014

Bangalore: The number of employees using smartphones and tablets at work is expected to reach 350 million by 2014.

According to a research conducted by Juniper the usage of personal mobile devices at work is on a rise and is expected to double by the end of year 2014. It has been found that in 2012, a total of 150 million smartphones and tablets are already in use.
The increase in the ‘Bring Your Own Devices’ or BYOD trend has been the reason for this boom. The estimated total of 350 million devices that will be used at work by 2014 presents the 23 percent of the total number of consumer-owned smartphones and tablets.
The report states that more number of employees now prefer bringing their own mobile computing to their workplace and access the corporate assets.
This trend, though, will yield better productivity results but also poses high risk to the security of the company’s resources.
