BJP Websites Hacked by Anonymous

Bangalore: After targeting Indian government websites recently and messing with servers maintained by Reliance Communications, Anonymous, the international hacker group is back again with its heinous intentions. This time the victim is BJP with two of their major websites being defaced by Anonymous.

The group is continuing with its campaign against Internet censorship in India. Through their Twitter account (@opindia_back) the group announced thatwww.mumbaibjp.org and www.bjpmp.org.in were hacked by them. After the websites were hacked the group posted a message to web users, asking them to protest against "web censorship" in India on June 9 reports TOI.

"Today they took away your right to use a few websites... day after tomorrow they will take away your freedom of speech and no one will be there to speak for you. Speak Now or Never," the message read on the hacked websites. Anonymous has also urged people to be a part of the protest on June 9th with deceptive looks by wearing Guy Fawkes Masks while protesting against web censorship in Bangalore, Mangalore, Kochi, Chennai, Vizag, Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad.

Occupy protests with youths protesting against the government for internet censorship have been fairly popular in USA, Germany, Spain etc where protesters show up in Guy Fawkes masks.

When TOI reached out to the hacker group through twitter, asking why they defaced BJP websites? The person managing @opindia_back replied to them saying "Just needed a website to display our message".
