10 Pioneers Of Cloud Computing

Werner Vogels, CTO and VP of Amazon Web Services:

Of course, the right guy to carry the torch, Werner Vogels, CTO and VP of Amazon Web Services, joined Amazon in 2004 as director of systems research, coming from a computer science research post at Cornell University. While studying at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, Holland, Vogels had some of the greatest minds in computing to lead him, such as Andrew Tannenbaum and Henri Bal.

Vogels became the CTO of Amazon, early in 2005 and later on that year was named the VP. Vogels had a tenacious vision of developing a platform that requires only inexpensive parts that dont come to an arrest in any of the associated hardware fails. This hardcore vision bought Amazon into the cloud main frame and got them elastic, in all terms. And the end result is simple; today Amazon is the unparalleled player in the cloud platform.
