Will VMware Achieve its Goal by Focusing on SMEs?

The software enterprise, VMware, is a renowned virtualization and cloud computing software provider for several reputed organizations such as SBI, Airtel and more. Having completed its big companies circle, the company is currently focusing on the small and medium-sized enterprises to increase its growth pace in India.

"What is exciting about India is the way we are addressing these SMEs - there are 42 million of them employing 106 million people. We are very good at enterprise but we also have the opportunity in India to take that technology down to these vast mass of SMEs," says Pradeep Nair, Vice President & Managing Director-India, VMware.

In 2018, VMware has announced about $2 billion investment in India for the company's facilities expansion, improvising research & development activities, and increase the headcount in the next five years. VMware has been looking forward to support the industries in India. The company is situated in seven locations and is trying to expand through its partners and distributors. Also, the company is particularly focused on expanding into other cities apart from metros in India citing the huge opportunities available there.

With the increasing cloud adoption, the Indian SMEs are using technology to perform similar functions which other companies do with large budgets. The company assures that the product quality and capabilities provided to the SME would remain the same but, the packaging would change according to their requirements.

Considering the customer's feedback for a simpler product, VMware has launched a product named 'VMware Cloud Foundation' that combines both computing and networking and induced Lifecycle Management around it for easy access. Apart from enterprises, the product is widely used by government organizations as well.
