UK to Bring First-Ever AI and Semiconductor Trade Delegation to Kolkata

The United Kingdom will bring its inaugural trade delegation to Kolkata on November 18-19, 2024, focusing on the growing sectors of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Semiconductors. The delegation will include 17 leading UK organizations, all of which are pioneers in AI and semiconductor innovation.

The UK’s primary objective for bringing this trade mission is to explore business opportunities in West Bengal and eastern India. We aim to forge strategic partnerships between UK companies and Indian stakeholders in these rapidly growing sectors.

The visit will provide a platform for UK businesses to engage with regional govts and industry leaders, creating potential for collaboration in areas such as AI, semiconductor research, development, and manufacturing.

Andrew Fleming, the British Deputy High Commissioner to East and North-East India, said, “I am delighted to welcome a trade delegation from the UK focused exclusively on the technology sector. This visit underscores the growing relationship between the UK and India in the tech space and specifically the existing and emerging opportunities in East and Northeast India. I believe interactions with state govts and industry will foster new partnerships and strengthen our collaboration, especially in the AI and semiconductor industries”.

The British Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, in partnership with NASSCOM and Asterix Innovations, will host a series of high-level events, including roundtable discussions, B2B meetings, and networking sessions with Indian stakeholders. These engagements aim to uncover new opportunities for collaboration, research, innovation, and investment, fostering future joint ventures and strengthening the tech partnership between the UK and India.
