- Tata Steel has signed an MoU with Australia’s InQuik Group to introduce modular, ready-to-install bridge systems in India.
- The prefabricated bridge technology allows quicker, durable, and more affordable construction, especially in remote areas.
- The collaboration supports India’s push for stronger transport links, aiming to bridge infrastructure gaps in underserved regions.
Tata Steel has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Australia-based InQuik Group to bring modular bridge systems to India, combining its steel manufacturing expertise with InQuik’s innovative, ready-to-install bridge technology. The collaboration is aimed at revolutionizing rural and remote infrastructure across the country with faster, cost-effective, and climate-resilient bridge construction.
The InQuik system is based on prefabricated steel moulds that are transported to construction sites and filled with concrete on location. This design significantly reduces construction time and eliminates the need for large-scale equipment, making it ideal for inaccessible or difficult terrains. In addition to being time-efficient, the system is designed to be durable and capable of withstanding harsh climatic conditions.
India continues to face challenges in improving rural connectivity, especially in remote areas where traditional infrastructure development is slow and expensive. Many villages remain isolated due to the lack of bridges, which hinders access to markets, schools, and healthcare. With this partnership, Tata Steel and InQuik aim to bridge that gap both literally and figuratively by delivering fast-deployable infrastructure solutions that meet the needs of underserved regions.
According to Tata Steel’s official press release, this collaboration aligns with India’s broader push to strengthen transport and road infrastructure, especially in areas that lack proper connectivity. T V Narendran, CEO & MD, Tata Steel, stated, “Tata Steel focuses on delivering smart and sustainable construction solutions to fulfil the growing infrastructural needs of a modern India. This collaboration with InQuik reflects our technology-driven approach to reimagine construction practices in the country”.
For Tata Steel, this is part of a strategic shift from being a commodity steel supplier to a provider of end-to-end construction solutions. The company has already been investing in downstream products that support rapid construction. This deal enhances that vision, offering a more direct way to utilize its steel products in nation-building projects and expand its value-added portfolio.
For InQuik, the partnership marks a significant step in its global expansion. Logan Mullaney, CEO of InQuik Group, remarked, “We are excited to partner with Tata Steel, a global leader in steel manufacturing, to expand the reach of our bridge systems into the Indian market. This agreement represents a significant milestone in InQuik’s international growth and reflects the confidence that leading companies like Tata Steel have in our technology”.
The MoU sets the foundation for identifying and executing bridge projects across India where this system can be deployed effectively. With growing emphasis on rural development and connectivity, this partnership is well-positioned to play a critical role in shaping the future of Indian infrastructure bringing communities closer, reducing travel time, and supporting economic inclusion.
