Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Declares Key Leadership Appointments

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL) has made significant leadership appointments with Ashish Gupta as Brand Director of Skoda India and Nitin Kohli as Brand Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, with effect from 1 May 2025.
Ashish Gupta transitions from his present position as Brand Director for Volkswagen India to assume responsibility at Skoda India, replacing Petr Janeba, who is moving back to Skoda Auto in the Czech Republic. Gupta brings over 20 years of experience in the automotive industry, including more than 12 years in the Volkswagen Group and five years as head of the Volkswagen brand in India. In his new role, he will be responsible for driving growth, enhancing brand awareness, and increasing network presence for Skoda in India.
Nitin Kohli, who is currently responsible for Sales and Operations at Audi India, will take over Gupta's previous position at Volkswagen. With 25 years of experience in the auto industry more than a decade of which at SAVWIPL Kohli will be charged with steering Volkswagen's next chapter in India.
The company said these leadership shifts are part of its larger plan to localise leadership and increase knowledge of the Indian market.
SAVWIPL's CEO and Managing Director Piyush Arora stated that the appointments fall in line with efforts by the company to develop capability within its operations in India. SAVWIPL's Board Member and Executive Director, Sales, Marketing & Digital, Jan Bures observed that the trend indicates the desire by SAVWIPL to develop local staff that would address future issues.
Speaking on the same, Jan Bures stated, "Ashish and Nitin have continually brought impact with speed and customer focus. Their appointment is not only a leadership transition; it signals a wider movement in how we are building resilient, future-proof teams from within India."
The appointments are part of the Group's ongoing restructuring and local talent development strategies.
